Unfortunately today I received the horrible news of the death of Cornish Photographer Jacob Cockle.
Jake was doing what he loved, filming and taking pictures of whirlpools in Hayle, Cornwall. His last attempt ended with devastating results and he was sucked into a vortex while going back to take one last picture. The RNLI found Jakes body and he was airlifted to Hospital but they were unable to save him.
Jake was a friend from my Penzance skating days and a very talented photographer.
A few days back while sorting through some old super 8 films I found a shot of jake taking a picture of me from Andy and Jess’s Cornish Super 8mm Wedding Film. I added some text and was going to send it to him over the next few days.
I never got to send it and he never seen the few seconds of himself on cine film.
What a dark day.
